For Montana Western, students can reach out to the Admissions Office and we can help students connect with the Athletic Department. They can reach out to us at 877-683-7331 or at admissions@umwestern.edu.

At MSUB, New Student Services representatives partner with our coaching staff to assist students in navigating application, NCAA clearinghouse regulations, sharing stats, etc.

At Helena College, unfortunately, we do not have sports.

For MSU first gen scholarship, does the automatic scholarship work if students applied through ApplyMontana site?

For University of Montana, we direct students to https://gogriz.com/index.aspx and there are recruit questionnaires for most of the athletic programs.

At Dawson Community College, we will refer students to coaches if requested. Typically students will then need to send some film to the coaches, and if that is favorable, the coaches will visit the student. to start this, you can email me (Nick) with interested athletes' names and emails, and I will direct that to our coaches. Flathead Valley Community only has one sport (logger sports) students can learn more during advising sessions or contact the recruiter on campus

at UP if they reach out to admissions and let us know they are interested in a sport, we connect them with the coach of their interested sport

Hi Molly! Students are considered for the First Generation Scholarship regardless of the application they fill out (MSU's specific or the Montana One App). Both applications have the question worded the same so hopefully it is very clear for students!

Carroll College Direct Entry Nursing is a great option for students. Our nursing program is set up as a 1-3 program where students do one year of pre-nursing courses and then 3 years in the nursing program. Our direct entry students go directly into the nursing program after their first year while pre nursing students have to apply for the program specifically during the Spring of their first year.If a student applies to Carroll and marks nursing as their top major, they will be considered for Direct Entry with priority going to students that applied by Nov 1

MCC has a recruit interest form on their athletic website, we will also direct students to contact the coaches by phone and email.

For MSUB and City College we encourage individuals to connect with our athletic department at https://msubsports.com/ where they can connect to coaches and discuss opportunities and requirements to participate in NCAAII athletics

Carroll College is NAIA and when a student is interested in athletics, we help them get directly connected with the specific coach.

Helena College does accept transcripts from Penn Foster.

MCC also accepts the Penn Foster transcripts.

City College has accepted students that have completed high school from Penn Foster

Great Falls College accepts diplomas and transcripts from Penn Foster.

Hi Brandi. Rocky Mountain College has not had any issue accepting Penn Foster grads.

Carroll College accepts transcripts from Penn Foster as well

MSUB recognizes Penn Foster as an accredited institution and we evaluate transcripts as we would for any prospective student.

UP has not had any issues with Penn Foster either

Hi Brandi, it primarily depends on which city/state the Penn Foster school is in, we (UM and Missoula College) have accepted transcripts from Penn Foster in the past

My understanding of SB-18 is that it simply allows educationally disrupted students to earn their diploma. Since Great Falls College is an open admissions campus and only requires a high school diploma or equivalency, SB 18 students would not need to complete any additional coursework for acceptance.

CC is the same as Great Falls College in considering SB 18

Missoula College of the University of Montana would be the same as Great Falls and City College :)

Hi Katie. Yes, Rocky will stack valedictorian aid on top of athletic/merit award. The only exception will be if athletics is providing a scholarship that covers the full cost of tuition. In that case, it "buys out" the merit or valedictorian award.

Montana Western would be the same in regards to SB 18.

Rocky Mountain College will be similar to other schools as far as how we treat students taking advantage of SB 18.

To everyone--Is the early alert system for student retention unique to SKC, or do the other colleges in MT utilize something similar as well?

MSUN has a robust early alert system with over 90% of our faculty who use it. It connects students with Student Support Services, Tutoring, Little River and Financial Aid so they receive the support they need

UP utilizes an early alert system used by all faculty to connect with Academic Success Counselors and coaches

Rocky has an early alert system in place as well.

At DCC we use a grade and attendance based alert system that involves students, the faculty, and even coaches.

MSUB and CC have implemented a new early alert system called "navigate" which allows faculty easy access to let students and key support staff if students are struggling.

MCC has the student at risk reporting system, an instructor will submit and the Learning Center tracks if the email is opened by the student and follow up with them.

MSU has a very involved early alert system. We have early alerts through faculty, housing, clubs, dean of students and more. Much if this is ran through MSU-Nav that Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls and Havre all have.

UM and MC will use a similar early alert program across a broad range of offices, including Housing, Office of Student Success, clubs/student orgs, etc.

Gallatin College is included in "Bozeman" :)

EAB Navigate is an MSU 4-campus system so all MSU campuses (Bozeman/Gallatin, Billings/City, Havre, Great Falls) are utilizing the system for early alerts.

MT Tech also uses EAB Navigate to identify at-risk students.

fvcc has an early warning system for academics and care reports for "everything else"

Helena College also has an early alert which includes the students, instructors, academic coach, etc. This is beneficial so students can receive information and get connected with the resources needed to be successful.

yes FVCC has nursing, it is a competitive program- so students will apply to FVCC first then take pre-req courses, then apply to the nursing program

I have a student who swears Gallatin College is adding a dental hygiene program. Any truth to this?

Does Gallatin offer on campus housing? Is it through the MSU dorms?

All of our Workforce students (exception is Associate or Arts/Science) are allowed to live in any of the Residence Halls on the MSU Campus

Is there a financial break for your students?

Gallatin College is not going to offer dental hygiene. Students can do their pre-requisites for dental hygiene here, however.

Can you please tell me which Tribal School utilizes “Talk Space” for its students’ mental health needs? Thanks!

This question is for all colleges, do you think nursing degrees will ever become online with placement in hospitals for your clinical’s, in your home community?

This question is for Western, do you offer dual enrollment?

As of now, Helena College will remain in person and not online for the hands on experience and in person cohorts.

At this point City College is keeping their ASN degree in person. We do offer the practical nursing in a online format with a few on campus dates required each nursing semester.

At MSUB the RN to BSN completion program is online.

at this time, UP is also in person for that hands on experience

Northern's ASN program is face to face however our RN-BSN is online

Some of the nursing pre-requisite courses are available online, but the majority of the hands-on course training will continue to be in-person for the ASN at Missoula College

FVCC will be keeping nursing programs in person but some of our other healthcare programs (PTA for example) are moving to more hybrid or online platform. Contact me with any questions

The Miles Community College RN program has online/remote delivery options for it's pre-requisites. Once students are admitted to the professional program, we do have remote (synchronous) instruction available for much of our didactic coursework so students don't have to be in Miles City every day. There are occasional hands on and clinical requirements on campus in our nursing lab, though, in addition to the clinicals in the healthcare facilities. We do have clinical partners in select locations outside of Miles City, including Glendive, Sidney, and Billings.

our RN-BSN program is online, BSN is in person

From Great Falls College: Hard to predict what nursing education in the future will look like but as of now, our LPN program offers the hybrid option so didactic coursework is done online and students come to campus one weekend per month for labs. Our ASN program is full time and in person.

How is the cost of housing?

This question is for Western, do you offer dual enrollment?

MCC housing and meals for this year is $6980

Laura Helena College does not have residential housing. Some of our students contact Carroll College regarding their housing options :)

City College housing and meals for this year are around $7600 (we have a few different meal plan options)

Room & Board at MSUB averages around $7600 per year. Can vary a bit if a student wants a single room it is a bit more. Their a also 4 different levels of meal plans to choose from.

FVCC apartments are $3,371 for a single room per semester and $2786 for a double per semester, with a $200 deposit upon applying

UP's room and board for freshmen is just over $10,000

Great Falls College does not offer on-campus housing.

Room/Board plans at Rocky vary based on the incoming student's preference, but would max out for an incoming Freshman at about $9600 for the year.

Montana Tech’s Nursing program will remain in-person also. Time spent hands-on in nursing simulation is super important before students go out on clinicals.

At DCC our student apartments are $4200 for a whole year.

To the 2 year Colleges in Missoula and Bozeman: How do students a afford housing?

University of Montana housing is around $11,740/year (similar to how others have mentioned it can vary based off of the actual housing selection), re: affordability for MC, the cost of tuition and fees is significantly less at MC (roughly half) and that often helps if students start at MC to transfer, or are intending to only attend MC. Students are able to apply financial aid to the overall cost

Any colleges here that don't accept the Apply Montana application?

Hi Dianna. As a private school, Rocky doesn't participate in the Apply Montana application. Ours can be found on our website and is also free.
